Dear EARLGA colleagues and readers,

I am delighted to report that the no. 54 issue (July 2009) of the EALRGA Newsletter was given a five star rating by the Asian Studies WWW Monitor: Sep 2009, Vol. 16, No. 12 (302). I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all who contributed outstanding papers and reports to this issue.

The No. 55, January 2010 issue of the EALRGA Newsletter has just published and I hope that you will enjoy reading it. Again, this issue has been filled with outstanding articles, informative conference reports and library news contributed by colleagues from East Asian libraries and scholars in Asian Studies. In this issue, topics on Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Taiwanese collections and activities are well covered and balanced. What impressed me most are the articles presented by Ms Izumi Koide and Ms Eiko Sakaguchi from NCC Image Use Protocol Task Force reporting Japanese Images for Scholarly Works, Dr. Pietro De Lauentis, a well known Chinese Studies scholar outlining the useful bibligoraphic tools on researching Chinese calligraphy, and, Ms Philippa Riley from the University of Melbourne examining the research activities on Taiwan in Australia.

EALRGA Newsletter is a twice-yearly online publication. The coming issue no.56 will be published in July 2010. Call for articles, reports and news for the July 2010 issue is currently open and the deadline will be 20th July 2010.

Below provides the guidelines for submitting articles to the EALRGA Newsletter.

  1. Document format: MSWord or html format.
  2. Article length: Currently no limit.  Long articles prefer in html format.
  3. Reference style: Chicago 15th A. Use Endnotes instead of footnotes.
  4. Images are most welcome.

The success of the EALRGA Newsletter will depend on your support. I look forward to working with you in the coming issue.
